There is no problem if you express yourself in english ... except the fact that only a few here can do so. About myself, the problem is that I'm not good at all with books for kids except 2 or 3 collections ...  Rolling Eyes

Welcome here, Youcef. You are free to write about anything you like on this forum. But I'm curious to know how you discovered this website, and how you know about French children's books, so typical of our country (even if many of them were translations/adaptations of books in English, mostly from the USA). What collections are you particularly interested in? Do you have any favourite illustrators?
Looking forward to read you

Thank you Cedrix. I don't know exactly how  I found myself in this forum. I guess, I used Google to look for information about  the french illustrator Alain Grée and his works, so the search results led me to this great forum. By surfing a few posts here; I discovered that this is not just a website for  children 's books. It is a family where all members try their best to help  each other. In fact; I haven't known anyone here before, but I feel as if I have spent years and years, discussing with you the sweetest thing from childhood memory.

Actually, I am not interested only in French children's books. My story with the children's books are a little bit different than most of you. First; It started from my work as a teacher; I noticed that our school library is very poor especially with foreign languages books. The pupils found many difficulties to do school projects because the lack of books... so it came to my mind to create an offline Electronic Library with some well illustrated books to be easily used by learners. I used some books from my library and others from the net.

	Youcef bienvenue P_881mglib1

a little by little this application developed into a Facebook page

https://www.facebook.com/TeensBookStore/?ref=bookmarks

this page turned to be a website for children's books in Arabic

https://sites.google.com/site/teensbookstore/

than another one about English books (still under construction)

https://sites.google.com/site/teensbookstore2/

the french books are so rare and you can barely find them online although they are of great value....no need to mention the series titled Mrtine which was translated into Arabic by more than 4 publishers with different titles.

My interest in vintage books started because of the wars in Arab world which had bad results in Children's books (for example in Iraq; most of the books were lost and destroyed during the American invasion in 2003, then by the appearance of ISIS which obliged a lot of families to leave their houses or to get rid of anything that may hint their movement from one city to another). the same thing is happening in Syria and Libya ....

of course to do that, I am getting help from friends from different parts of the world; Mainly from Lebanon, England, Palestine, Iraq, Ireland, Australia....
Maybe, the first thing that comes to European mind is how I deal with copyright ..... I may discuss this when it is possible

Thank you so much Anne... That's kind of you. I do appreciate your help.
Yes, you are absolutely right. It is not any easy task but I enjoy dealing with children's books and I am so lucky to find people from different parts of the world with the same interest.

The links above do not work because recently I was obliged to migrate (manually) my old google site to the new form. the old give a small storage capacity and less options. the new one is more flexible and it is linked to google drive. I am reconstructing it a little by a little. here it is: https://sites.google.com/view/young-learners-library

Here is a link to some downloadable books : https://sites.google.com/view/young-learners-library/%D9%85%D9%83%D8%AA%D8%A8%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A3%D8%B7%D9%81%D8%A7%D9%84-%D9%88-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%B4%D8%A6%D8%A9/%D9%85%D9%83%D8%AA%D8%A8%D8%A9-%D9%84%D8%A8%D9%86%D8%A7%D9%86-%D9%86%D8%A7%D8%B4%D8%B1%D9%88%D9%86/%D9%83%D8%AA%D8%A8-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%81%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%B4%D8%A9/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%82%D8%B5%D8%B5-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D9%8A%D8%A9

I was obliged to remove the Facebook page because it contains some titles that their publisher expressed (politely) its disagreement to see its product online. I was not able to truck the books. So, I made the hardest decision.

I will go to the link and try to see what I understand Wink Anyway I wish you to keep up the good work and expand the geographical limits of our favorite books a little more. Hi Youcef!

I am a great fan of Enid Blyton, Paul-Jacques Bonzon, Anthony Buckeridge, Yvon Mauffret, Jules Verne, Georges Chaulet, Georges Bayard, to name a few...

Actually, would you like to discover these authors in English or French or Arabic?

Do you know that some Famous Fives were translated in Arabic? And some titles of the Secret Seven series as well. I have some of them, but not at hand, as they are back home in my country.

You can check out this page on Serge's website: http://serge-passions.fr/c5_le_club_des_cinq_en_arabe.htm

Some (all?) volumes of the famous French comic series of TINTIN have also been translated in Arabic. Have you read them?

And, of course, ALL of Harry Potter's titles have been translated in Arabic. I have 2 of them in this language.

As an Algerian, I suppose you speak/understand French?

Hey fan_indien
Nice to meet you.  cheers
Anne has mentioned the name Sree in one of her  comments. I tried to search the name in the form but got no results. Only today, I could understand to whom she was referring to.
In fact; mystery and detective stories are not my cup of tea. So, I do not have much information about this genre.. but I can say that Blyton's works have been translated into Arabic by many publishers. one of them is the Egyptian publisher that was founded in 1890. I have seen the fifth edition that appeared in 1980's but I did not like it as they changed the name of the characters and the places...they used some words in Eastern dialect that we do not use in Algeria, Tunisia; Morocco. Blyton's works have  been also translated by two or three Iraqi publishers. I liked the translation. It is perfect. Here are some covers with their English equivalents:

	Youcef bienvenue P_941z97pb5

I like Jules Verne novels. they are really amazing and educative....  but I have no idea about the other names. I would be more than happy if you enlighten me with more information about them.
the ninth art is out of my interest but I m sure that TINTIN  was translated into Arabic. The Arabs are so addict to comics. I know even an old man from Lebanon who introduced a lot of comic magazines  to Arabs. He has a huge archive of rare comics. but my discussion with him is often about non-comics  children's books.
I often see some of my pupils reading Harry Potter  in Arabic... but the majority of them prefer to read novels by Agatha Christie.

In fact I do not speak French at all... but I can understand it a little bit.

by the way; thanks for the link to Serge's website.

Thank you, Youcef, for these very interesting and informative details! Very Happy

I like the cover illustrations of تل الأسرار (The Hill of Secrets), which I would have thought to be the translation of "Five on Billycock Hill" rather than that of "Five Go Off In A Caravan. And why to have translated "Five On A Treasure Island" with just الكنز meaning "The Treasure", rather than "جزيرة الكنز" (The Treasure Island)? Just wondering. By the way, who is Muneer Abdel Amir whose name is mentioned on the cover of this book?

It's nice to know that "The Children of Willow Tree Farm" (أطفال مزرعة الصفصاف) has been translated in Arabic.

(...) I have no idea about the other names. I would be more than happy if you enlighten me with more information about them.

Enid Blyton needs no introduction. I am sure you already know a lot about her and her works!!

Paul-Jacques Bonzon is a very famous French author for youth literature. His series "Les Six Compagnons" (The Six Companions) and "La famille HLM" (The Family of the High-Rise Buildings) are extremely famed and loved in France. But he has written several "one-shots" as well.

Anthony Buckeridge is the British author who wrote the boarding school series called "Jennings". Apart from two titles, all the rest have been translated into French. Quite a few of us in this forum are fond of this series which is known as "Bennett" in French. He also has a big fan club in Norway.

Yvon Mauffret is a French author from the Brittany region of France (north-west). He wrote a lot about sea stories, and his writings are rich in human values. I personally adore his books and I am a big fan of his.

Georges Chaulet, author of the famous Fantômette series in French. These stories are about a girl who disguises herself as a masked vigilante ("justicière masquée" in French). She goes about solving mysteries and catching thieves, amongst them "Le Furet", "Alpaga" and "Bulldozer". Her favourite expression is "mille pompons!". These titles are published in the extremely well-known collection called "Bibliothèque Rose" edited by Hachette.

Georges Bayard is famous for his "Michel" series. This Michel is a youth from the North of France and he, along with his cousin Daniel and another companion Arthur, who is an automobile mechanic, have many adventures together. All these guys are adolescents. They also have a female friend about the same age named Martine, who Michel met for the first time in England. This is a great series and many of the members of this forum including me love these stories.

"Bibliothèque Rose" (Pink Library) & "Bibliothèque Verte" (Green Library) are 2 very famous collections of French books for youngsters, edited by Hachette. I am a die-hard fan of these 2 collections which mean a lot to me.

Hope you found these information useful.

Many thanks for the information about the authors. I guess I should spend a few hours reading some of their works. I may start with Yvon Mauffret works as they are rich in human values as you have said.
In fact, I do not have much information about the Iraqi series ... although it was famous in Iraq; the books do not have details about the publisher or the date of publishing. the last cover is from another iraqi publisher that was number one in Iraq but most of its products were damaged during the American invasion in 2003. I know some friends one of them is a university teacher who are doing their best to digitalize all the books that were published by ... دار ثقافة الأطفال
